	Excel Academy of Cosmetology is located in North East Indianapolis in the Castleton area, on Craig Street, two blocks west of I69 off of 82nd street. Our 6,000 square foot facility is located adjacent to Maly's with ample parking and surrounded by a major shopping area. Our contemporary 32 station clinic with manicure and pedicure stations include a separate state of the art esthetics area featuring a spa wet room with Vichey shower. The Academy is furnished with the latest instructional equipment and class sizes are kept small to ensure an optimum learning environment.

Full Time: Classes begin five times per year and can be completed in 9 1/2 months. Classes meet Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:00 PM. Overtime charges will be assessed beyond the 8% allowed absences, at a cost of $5.00 per hour, billed upon reaching the date when the course was due to be complete. ......Finance Options ( Indianapolis ) top of page Cash Payment Plan SLM Financing Excel Scholarships: A $250 scholarship will be awarded to any current year graduating high school senior in a traditional school with these honors - Valedictorian, Salutatorian, top 10% of graduating class or a member of the National Honor Society.
......Admission Requirements ( Indianapolis ) top of page Applicants to all programs must be at least 16 years of age, have a high school diploma or have a general education development certificate. Applicants to the instructor training program must hold a current cosmetology license issued by the state regulatory agency, and have a high school diploma or have a general education development certificate. Applicant to the instructor training program, who have not been active in the cosmetology profession within the last two years, will be required to take a written and practical test covering all areas of cosmetology prior to being enrolled. A passing grade of 75% is required. An applicant who fails the exam may repeat the exam 30 days from the date of the original exam. Class sizes are restricted to help keep a student/instructor ratio which will insure maximum assistance to each student. Students may start enrolling for any class 6 months prior to the start date. Enrollments will be accepted up to one week prior to the class start date, or until the class becomes full, whichever comes first. Therefore, we encourage early registration if you wish to begin with a specific class. A registration fee paid at the time you sign a contract will guarantee you a seat in the upcoming class.
